About Us
GrassRoots Ministry (GRM), is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the holistic development of underprivileged and marginalized children, youth, and young women in rural communities across Uganda.
Our approach focuses on providing comprehensive services to support children and youth at every stage of their growth. Through coordinated programs in education, economic development, leadership, public health, advocacy, girls’ empowerment, and sports for development, we strive to mitigate the devastating effects of poverty and HIV. Our goal is to pave the way for sustainable, lifelong success and economic mobility.
As a community-driven organization, we design programs based on the needs of the children, youth, and young women in the communities we serve. We believe that every marginalized child and youth in rural areas deserves the chance to grow, learn, lead, and thrive.

Our Story
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the world seemed to be crumbling around us, a spark of hope emerged. GRM was born. Founded by Grace Julius Ssembatya in 2020. Grace’s own experiences of struggle and resilience fueled his passion to create positive change. He saw firsthand the devastating impact of the pandemic on rural youth, who were losing their livelihoods, struggling with mental health, and feeling hopeless. Grace refused to stand idly by. He decided to take action, driven by a fierce determination to change the lives of hundreds of rural young people and help them reclaim their futures. This vision led to the founding of GRM, an organization dedicated to empowering rural youth through training, employment, and financial access, creating opportunities where none previously existed. Today, GRM continues to break down barriers, transforming lives and unlocking potential in rural communities across Uganda.
