Lasting change. From the ground up.

GrassRoots Ministry equips rural children, youth, and women living in poverty with holistic, community-driven solutions in education, health, livelihoods, and leadership.

We envision a rural Uganda free from poverty, where every person can grow, learn, lead, and thrive. Founded in 2020, GRM is community-driven, not handout-driven. We unlock potential from the ground up.

Our Story

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the world seemed to be crumbling around us, a spark of hope emerged. GrassRoots Ministry (GRM) was born.

Founded by Grace Julius Ssembatya in 2020, GRM grew out of Grace’s own experiences of struggle and resilience. He saw firsthand the devastating impact of the pandemic on rural youth, young people losing their livelihoods, struggling with mental health, and slipping into hopelessness.

Grace refused to stand idly by.

Driven by a fierce determination to change lives, he took action. He saw that what rural children, youth, and women needed most were not handouts but holistic, community-driven solutions, in education to open doors, in health to restore dignity, in livelihoods to rebuild futures, and in leadership to give them a voice.

That vision became the foundation of GRM: an organization dedicated to equipping rural communities with opportunities where none previously existed, unlocking their potential to create lasting change from the ground up.

Today, GRM continues to break down barriers, transforming lives across rural Uganda. We are building a future where every child, youth, and woman is empowered to grow, learn, lead, and thrive, reaching their full potential within thriving communities.

Get Involved

A rural child in Uganda shouldn’t have to choose between school and survival.

GrassRoots Ministry exists because poverty is not just a lack of money, it’s a lack of opportunity. We equip rural children, youth, and women with education, health, livelihoods, and leadership skills to break the cycle of poverty and HIV for good.

Founded in 2020 during the pandemic, we’ve seen what happens when a community unlocks its own potential.

Lasting change. Dignity. Hope.

Your support doesn’t give handouts. It unlocks futures.

Join us to build a rural Uganda free from poverty; one child, one youth, one woman at a time.

I don't just give to a charity; I invest in a proven force for good, and that brings me immense peace and satisfaction. GRM has my trust and my continued support.

The Meals Project

For many children walking through our doors at the GRM community center, that meal is the only food they will see all day. It’s what steadies their hands, quiets their growling stomachs, and opens their minds to hope.
